Back in business

After 14 weeks of renovations, Massy Oistins reopened their doors.

Following a tour of the newly renovated Massy store in Oistins, CEO of the Massy Stores, Randall Banfield, told the media that they were proud to be able to reopen the store for the people in Oistins.

“This Oistins store has been supported for a long time and the Massy operations here is happy to reopen this store and bring a high level of retailing and experience to the loyal community we have here in Oistins,” he said.

Banfield believes that the work was done in a relatively short space of time, as they would have closed the store at the end of May and was now reopening around the middle of September; and even though the time was short, much was done to the space.

He reported that customers expressed how impressed they were with all the changes that were made.

“We took a decision when we were designing to eliminate some of the items that were very slow moving, which would allow us to run a smaller store but still be spacious enough. We have all of the popular items that you would want to find in your trolley, so you would find that the store is easier to shop,” he said.

Banfield stated that with this downsize, their staff complement was now 65 people, and this included both full-time and part-time staff members.

“We are talking about a store that has not had a serious facelift for many years, it has become outdated and if you look at what Massy has been doing in its retail stores over the years, you would see that we had a complete renovation of Sunset Crest, we would have now done this, took over the Coverley store and are happy with what that presents and the convenience. When we are finished this, we would like to get to the store in Worthing because that is also due for some renovation and upgrade,” he said.

“Massy has made a commitment to retailing across the region, including here because the customer deserves this type of shopping experience.” (CLF)
