Abed goes back to his roots, plants twenty new trees

Gabriel Abed, a graduate of Queen’s College, returned to his alma mater last week and planted 20 new trees on the compound.

“The best time to plant a tree was 15 years ago; the second best time is now,” said Abed. Fifteen years since his graduation from QC, Abed is today the Co-Founder of Bitt Inc. and is hailed as the region’s premiere authority on digital currency and Blockchain technology.

The project was coordinated with The Future Centre Trust as part for its “Future Tree Programme”.

“The Future Centre Trust is committed to planting as many fruit trees in public spaces as possible. We need to be able to feed ourselves as a nation – and free access fruit is one way to
achieve that goal,” said Barney Gibbs, Project Coordinator of the programme.

Trees planted included soursop, golden apples and limes – all nurtured for the last three years in a pot. Abed is committed to planting additional trees in other parts of Barbados.
