Republic Bank gives to six charities

Recently during the launch of their Power to Make a Difference (PMAD) Programme, the Republic Bank (Barbados) Ltd made a charitable contribution that totaled BDS $144 500 to six charities.

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of RBBL, Anthony Clark highlighted that the cheques, were presented to SickKids-Caribbean, Jabez House, Transplant Links, the Diabetes Association of Barbados, Barbados Adventure Race and St. Ambrose Primary School, in an effort to help them continue the great work they have been doing in each of their specific fields.

He explained that PMAD was born out of the idea that we are our brother’s keeper and if they solely focused on facilitating the banking needs of customers, they would be falling short of this ideal.

“Our PMAD programme is our corporate social responsibility initiative which is divided into three categories, the power to care, which focuses on health and poverty alleviation, the power to succeed, which embraces sports, entrepreneurship and the care of the environment, and the power to learn, which captures youth empowerment through education, culture and the arts,” he said.

“Our Power to Make a Difference programme is indeed transformative, one of the most wonderful aspects about it is that we aren’t only transforming the lives of others, all of us at Republic Bank who support and work closely with the programme are also transforming into better corporate citizens, neighbours and people.”
Sophia Cambridge, Manager of Marketing and Communications at Republic Bank described PMAD activities as exciting and rewarding for them at the bank because they were able to see, through the years, how their partnership with these organisations helped them develop and made a meaningful difference to the lives of individuals across the country.

“It is said that if you want to see a change in the world, you must be that change and at the Republic Bank we embrace that mantra. We sought to empower the most vulnerable and marginalised among us, affording them greater opportunities and access among greater resources,” she said.
