Zane Maloney looking to rebound today

Barbados’ Zane Maloney did not have the start he was looking for in the first race of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine at the Imola circuit.

Maloney had qualified 10th, placing on the fourth row of the grid. He was 0.608 secs off the time of the pole sitter.

But as the lights went off he quickly went backwards through the pack and did not make to the first corner of the first lap.

It was later revealed that he had burnt out his clutch at the start of the race which ended his day.

Today he will be looking for a better showing as he also starts in a better position.

Maloney qualified fourth for today’s race, this time only 0.395 secs behind the pole sitter.

He is ahead of the Race 1 winner David Vidales who started on pole and never looked back.

Maloney will also be ahead of the second place finisher from the first race Alex Quinn but behind his R-ace GP team-mate Hadrien David who was third in the race yesterday.
