St. John hold hard at home in Football Classic

St. John showed that Gall Hill belongs to them and them alone this past weekend when the 2017 David Thompson Memorial Constituency Councils Football Classic continued. Playing on Saturday night, they whipped a visiting St. Lucy side who had no answer for three hot ones in the feature game at the venue.

The affair started early on as Akeeme Rouse opened the show in the third minute. In the second half, Deago Gittens added a second when he found the nets in the 50th. Injury was added to insult in the 11th hours as Ryan Griffith put the ball in his own nets in the 93rd minute to give the hosts a freebie for the three-nil result.

The earlier game in St John saw St. James Central absolutely dismantling St. Joseph with the largest margin this season. St. Jospeh had a single goal from Nicholas Nicholls in the 31st minute but they had 14 put past them. Hadan Holligan had goals in the 20th, 24th, 30th, 54th, 69th and 87th minutes while Damon Ifill came away with a hat-trick. Devon Gibson had two 11 minutes apart in the 66th and 77th, while Mario Albert rocked the nets in the 82nd, 88th and 89th minutes.

Over at James Bryan, home team St. George North got off to a good start in the 30th minute, compliments Argyle Richards. However, St. Andrew came back in 10-minute intervals to take the win after Jomo Harewood scored in the 40th and 60th and Dario Alleyne came through on the middle in the 50th. The other game at the venue saw St. Michael South-East getting free points as St. Michael West-Central failed to field a team.
