St. Cyprian’s whip St. Ambrose

 

Five goals from Marcus Whittington opened the door to yet another win for St. Cyprian’s Boys’ as they continued their campaign in Zone 4 of the BICO National Sports Council Primary Schools Football Competition. Playing at Blenheim on Monday, Whittington’s haul set up a 10-1 victory over the embattled St. Ambrose as the tournament picked up from the weekend break. Along with Whittington, goals came from Dominic Downes (2), Jayden Sealy, Taurean Marshall and an own-goal. St. Ambrose’s consolation came from Sharique Grant.
 
Luther Thorne were also big winners on the day as they blanked St. Paul’s Primary, four goals to none. Raniko Daisley headed the charge with a brace while Makai Francis-Shepherd and Tydre Fenty scored once each. St. Gile’s also picked up points with a one-nil win over Belmont Primary through a goal from Rodique Boyce.
 
There were a few goals in the mix when Charles F. Broome took on People’s Cathedral. Seven goals were recorded as Charles F. took a five-two win. Josiah Parris knocked back a hat-trick while Khalil Vanderpool scored twice. For People’s, it was Matthew Clarke and Raquelme Shepherd that scored. Wilkie Cumberbatch were one-nil winners when they came up against George Lamming and Damari Stoute was the scorer.
 
Zone 3 action saw Grantley Prescod taking two hefty wins at Shorey Village as they played back-to-back games. Going up against Hillaby Turner’s Hall Jevonnte Harewood (2), Shakoby Brathwaite and Kamal Bryan blasted four goals past the custodian. Against St. Bernard’s the score was five-nil and Bryan, Brathwaite, Kiko Wade, Christian St. Hill and Kali Jones all rocked the nets. St. Bernard’s played another game and they broke even with St. Elizabeth. Parting ways after goal each, Shemario Holder scored for St. Elizabeth while Shatori Eversley netted for St. Bernard’s.
 
The National Stadium saw four Zone 6 games. Lawrence T. Gay were four-nil winners when they met up with Eagle Hall. Kaleb Francis scored twice while Disherid Franklyn-Harewood and Shayne Trotman added the other two goals. Eden Lodge also got points after scoring four goals to trump Deacons Primary’s two. Kadane Archer got a hat-trick while Jacoby Reid added the fourth. For Deacons, Alana Boyce and Tyrell Reece scored.
 
Over at King George V Park, Zone 8 picked back up and St. Luke’s Brighton beat out Reynold Weekes, three goals to one. Laquan Roach scored twice for St. Luke’s Brighton with the third coming from Xavier Webster. Reynold Weekes consolation came from Richem Atherley. A single goal from Hassani Alkins gave Gordon Walters the win over St. Philip Primary.
 
In Zone 2, St. Alban’s beat West Terrace at Trents. Jabarry Cumberbatch and Azary Williams both scored.
 
The competition continued yesterday with games at various venues.
