St. Ambrose 0-3 in BICO tourney

THE woes continue for St. Ambrose in Zone 4 of the BICO National Sports Council Primary Schools Football Competition. When this past week’s action ground to a halt for the three-day weekend, St. Ambrose were held to a sizeable loss, their third in as many games, when they took on Charles F Broome in a rescheduled game on Friday.

Playing at Blenheim, Charles F blasted seven unanswered goals past the St. Ambrose goalie. Khalik Vanderpool and Josiah Parris both brought home braces, while Tario Waithe and Yanni Marshall were good for one each. An own-goal gave the winners a seventh.

In another rescheduled Zone 4 game at Blenheim, Luther Thorne picked up a two-nil win over St. Giles. Imani Sobers and Tydre Fenty shared the work load in that game.

Up North at Speightstown, Selah Primary were big winners in Zone 2 when they faced Roland Edwards, beating out the Speightstown team six goals to none. Tyrol Joseph led the charge with two goals, while a goal each from Qumar Carrington, Raquon Leacock and Natari Boyce, along with an own-goal, sealed the deal. Half Moon Fort also played flawlessly at Speightstown, blanking St. Lucy two goals to none. Jamari Benn and Netori Graham were the scorers.

There was another two-nil win on the day, with Good Shepherd Primary dispatching St. Silas at Bagatelle in Zone 2 action. A goal each from Tyrique Eastmond and James Pounder gave Good Shepherd three points towards their campaign this season. In the other game at the venue, Defending champions, St. Stephen’s and West Terrace, played to a goalless draw for a point each.

In Zone 5, both games played at Greens ended with five-goal margins, as St. George Primary and Cuthbert Moore left with points. St. George took on Workmans, with Nicholas Hoyte (3) Tyreke Crawford (1) and Tyrese Scott (1) scoring for the win, while Cuthbert Moore got six goals through braces from Tyrese McGeary and Najua O’neal, and single goals from Ty Boyce and Tariek. Zachari Daniel scored the consolation for opponents, Mount Tabor.

Still in Zone 5 but up at Gall Hill, Bay Primary were five-nil winners over St. Margaret’s. Amir Gustave, proving to be player of real potential, scored a hat-trick, while Michael Browne and Kemanni St. Omere both had one each. In Ellerton, St. Jude’s and Hill Top broke even, after scoring two goals apiece. For St. Jude’s, Darique Harris and Rikari Johnson were the scorers. On the other side, it was Dave Lovell and Thiago Harding.

Briar Hall was a hive of activity, as five Zone 7 games were played. St. Angela’s and St. Christopher parted ways as equals, after scoring a goal each in their encounter. With Reuben Jacobs netting for the Christ Church team, Jalen Johnson’s goal saw St. Angela’s to a single point. Will’s Primary came out victorious in a close clash, as they beat Vauxhall one-nil thanks, to a Zion Mayers goal.

Milton Lynch and St. Bartholomew’s met up as well at the venue, but the former walked away winners, with two unanswered goals. Niko Pilgrim and Damien Matthews were the ones to rock the nets. Former champions, St. Gabriel’s, were also two-nil winners, after their date with St. Lawrence. Both goals came from Michael Chandler. Arthur Smith were the big winners in the zone on the day, as they ended with three against St. Winifred’s. The losers were unable to reply to goals, which came from Nathan Marshall, Zinedine Brewster and Jevon Hurdle.
