SMS joins St. Alban’s to celebrate victory

Barbados Secondary School Athletics Championships 2018 double crown champion The St. Michael School joined 2018 National Primary Schools Athletics Championships Boys Champion St. Albans to help celebrate their achievement.

SMS coach Gabriel Burnett brought ten of his athletes who will also be competing at the Carifta Games to the school yesterday afternoon to help inspire the younger athletes to keep striving and working towards their goals.

Some of those athletes included Ashley Lowe, Antoni Hoyte-Small, Nathan Furgusson, Kyle Gale, Matthew Clarke, Rhea Hoyte, Venessa Greaves, Seth Edwards and Darian Clarke.

Speaking to the audience gathered Burnett said that they were honoured to be invited to the school and was pleased to hear that St. Albans has a holistic approach.

Burnett said to reach the top is extremely difficult and similar to The St. Michael School they are also humble in their victory.

He said that they should enjoy it while it lasts and he will follow how St. Albans does next year at NAPSAC.

In addition, St. Albans should also celebrate being the best school in Barbados and not just the North.

During their visit, the athletes of The St. Michael School made a donation to At. Albans, teachers, staff and athletes thanks to their sponsors.

Tomorrow (Wednesday) the school will walk through some of the community to share their celebrations.
