Sharon Primary captain Zahran Regis (left) does his best to keep St. Silas’ Shae Husbands off the ball during Friday’s match

Sharon put in work in Zone 2

Sharon Primary have been proving themselves a force to be reckoned with this year in the BICO National Sports Council Primary Schools Football Competition. They continue to have a good time in Zone 2 and picked up yet another win when the competition closed off for the week this past Friday.

Going up against St. Silas Primary at the Bagatelle ground, two unanswered second-half goals gave them the points needed to continue their mark in the upper echelons of the group. First to score was captain Zahran Regis, while Jalanne Best added the other before the final whistle went.

In the same zone, St. Alban’s and West Terrace were winners in games at Trents. St. Alban’s got past St. James with a single goal from Ronico Harding. West Terrace had a bit of competition from Good Shepherd as Tavian Eastmond gave the latter a consolation which failed to trump a brace from Isaiah Babb for the two-one result.

Zone 7 action was moved to Blenheim and the change in venue saw a low yield in goals. The only winners on the day were Arthur Smith who had a default win over a no-show Vauxhall. St. Gabriel’s and St. Angela’s broke even with a goal each as Michael Lashley netted for St. Gabriel’s and Jolan Jones scored for the latter. St. Christopher’s and St. Bartholomew’s also parted ways as equals. Reuben Jacobs scored once for St. Christopher’s and Raneco Browne had the equaliser. Milton Lynch and Will’s Primary played to a goalless draw.

The biggest wins on the day came over at Greens as Zone 5 continued. St. George Primary were victorious in their campaign against St. Jude’s after scoring four goals against one. Nicholas Hoyte (2), Jamario Forde and Tyrese Scott all rocked the nets for St. George. Mount Tabor won by two goals as they beat out Hilltop Preparatory.
Despite a brace from Dominic Hunte, Mount Tabor’s Dashad Parris, Nazeer Small, Jatario Prescod and Tyrie Layne all scored to bring home the bacon for Mount Tabor.

Still in Zone 5 but over at Gall Hill, St. John’s Primary and Bay Primary left the venue with a single point each after a one-all draw. Joshua Graham scored for St. John’s while Joaquin Adams netted for Bay Primary. Workmans Primary beat out St. Margaret’s in a two-nil outing. Malanique Leacock and Kerell Lynch were responsible for the goals there.

The only other Zone 5 game on the day went to Ellerton, and the home team easily beat Cuthbert Moore. Zidane Bello, Javon Parris and a third player only credited as Jazario all put goals past the Cuthbert Moore custodian to give Ellerton Primary the win.

Up in Speightstown, there was a rescheduled Zone 1 fixture which saw Ignatius Byer and Roland Edwards clashing. It was Ignatius Byer that came out on top as two unanswered goals from Donté Scantlebury sealed the deal for the St. Lucy side.
