Roger Skeete and Jeffrey Panton share the podium

The honours were shared between Roger Skeete and Jamaica’s Jeffrey Panton when the Motoring Club Barbados Inc held their speed event Full Throttle on Sunday.

The double header event saw just over 15 cars taking part on the Mapp’s to Stewart’s Hill course and it was Skeete in the Subaru Impreza WRC and Panton in the Ford Focus WRC that traded positions early in the event.

Skeete led after the first run by less than one second, then it was Panton that led with one run to go by 0.17 seconds. In the end the winning margin for the first half of the event was an impressive 0.01 seconds.

Skeete clocked 1:48.80 and Panton clocked at 1:48.81.

Just behind these two there was a battle for third place and the fastest two-wheel drive between Josh Read and Dane Skeete.

Read in the Toyota Starlet led this battle briefly after the second official run, but Dane Skeete turned in a stunning final run in the Peugeot to take the victory with a time of 1:52.06, while Read clocked 1:53.41.

In the reverse direction there was a loss of time with first an accident and then an oil spill which caused the event to end prematurely on the second official run.

Panton was leading and took the victory with a fastest time of 1:49.05 seconds, while Skeete got 1:48.48.

Third overall and fastest two-wheel drive went to Dane Skeete once again 1:51.49, while Read was fourth with 1:55.87.

Super Modified 3 went to Justin Campbell in his BMW, while Daryl Clarke won Modified 2, Wayne Archer Modified 1 and Allan Kinch Clubman 1. (CG)
