Orange House crowned new champions at St. Luke’s Brighton

THERE was a new champion crowned when St. Luke’s Brighton took to the National Stadium for their Inter House Sports.

With new houses, Orange Green and Purple replacing the old Houses of Red, Blue and yellow, it meant a new legacy would be created at the track and field meet.
Red House held the title for four years before the change and this time around it was Orange House with 512 points that took home the title. Second place went to Green with 476 points and third was purple with 446 points.

Kelia Sandiford from Orange house was the outstanding female athlete in Under-11 finishing with 49 points and took home the Victrix Ludorum title by a mere one point ahead of Rakayla Hinkson from Green House who was the Under-13 champion with 48 points.

Sandiford won the 300m, 200m, while placing second in the 100m, 600m, and fourth in the long jump.

The Victor Ludorum title went to Shavier Nurse from Orange House who finished with 54 points. Nurse won the Under-11 300m, 200m, 100m, and long jump, while placing second in the cricket ball throw and third in 800m.

The Under-13 title was shared between Nathan Griffin from Orange House and Lamario Padmore form Green each with 44 points.

Speaking to The Barbados Advocate game master Mascoll said that he was pleased with their first joint sports as he felt it was a success. The support and assistance was good and he felt the students were able to see the standards of other schools as they got together with St. George Primary.

Other Division Champions were in the Under-7 Dshea Thompson from Orange won the girls title with 30 points, while Datari Best from Green won the boys title with 24 points.
In the Under-9 the champion female was Faith Bayley from Orange house with 34 points, while Liam Drayton from Green House won the boys with 36 points. (CG)
