No losers at end of Score Heroes

Although St. Stephen’s A took home the top prize the real winners in the Score Heroes Socceramma were the Physical Education students at the Ellerslie Secondary School. Yesterday, the team of 11 successfully pulled through several weeks of planning to execute the event which makes up the practical section of their Caribbean Examination Council’s School Based Assessment.

With neighbours St. Stephen’s A coming out on top of the four teams in the five-a-side tournament, they slugged their way through the preliminary games with Wesley Hall Juniors B coming home second and St. Stephen’s B finishing third.

Speaking to The Barbados Advocate at the end of the event, Vice President of the event’s executive, Acacia Small explained that part of the process included sending out questionnaires to several primary schools in the area to find out which sports they had the most interest in playing. With netball, football, volleyball and hockey all being used as options, football proved to be the most popular response and Small said there was much to be put together to make the event a success. “We had to source sponsorship, we had to source equipment, we had to source everything that is here today and we did on our own. We sat behind desks day-time during school and night-time. We had to work very hard to accomplish this goal. This whole event goes toward our SBA,” she said.
