Netball Under-19 League Competition semi-finalists set

Springer, Lester Vaughan, Queen’s College and Foundation are all through to the semi-finals of the Barbados Secondary Schools’ Netball Under-19 League Competition.

Playing last Thursday evening at the netball stadium, Foundation school had an easy victory, crushing the Graydon Sealy School 48-9. Though most of the Graydon Sealy netballers were under 15, they fought to the end with Shonica Griffith leading the way and commanding her position at Goal attack for her team. It wasn’t enough though to stop Foundation’s attack, whose swift play and experience shined on that day. The Barbados under 16 national players Brianna Holder and Stephaine Shepherd dominated Foundation’s attack, while at the other end of the court, national defenders Chante Moore and Sheridan Straughn were too strong to get around.

Foundation Goal Shooter Chiara Chase only missed one of her attempts scoring a game high 25 out of her 26 attempts. Goal attack Stephaine was no different; she to missed one of her 17 attempts. A switch was made in the final quarter; Brianna Holder had a sliced of this cake playing Goal attack and having a perfect shooting statistics, scoring all 5 of her attempts.

The Graydon Sealy School relied on Shonica Griffith who scored 6 from her 10 attempts, Goal shooter Melika Jones-Ramsay scoring the other 3 from 8 attempts, while Rasheeda Payne did not manage to put any score on the sheet missing her three attempts.

The Lester Vaughan School is sending a message and is the team to look out for as they hindered the St. Michael School chances of making it to the semi-finals.

The Lester Vaughan School defeated the St. Michael School, 29-22. The game was a fairly close one in the first two quarters as they ended 7-7 and 16-14 respectively. However, Lester Vaughn shooters Jana Joseph and Vivica Addison led the way in the shooting circle and widened the gap in the third quarter, which ended 23-18. It was in the last quarter when Lester Vaughn changed gears a bit to take the game 29 goals to 22. Their shooter Jana Joseph scored (15/16) while getting some help from Goal attack Vivica Addison who scored 7 from her 13 attempts.
