Netball: Foundation, Springer register wins at Champion of Champions

Springer Memorial defeated Soufriere Secondary 43-29 in a dominant display at the Inaugural AFNA Champion of Champions High School Netball Tournament at Leila Robinson Courts in Kingston Jamaica.

Also in winner’s row was Christ Church Foundation School who crushed Dominica State College 44-16.

Earlier in the week Christ Church Foundation defeated Micoud Secondary 41-16, while going down to Holmwood Technical in a closely fought game 35-23.

Springer went down to Excelsior High 54-22.

The leading scorers for Springer have been Jada Smith, while Tricia Philips has chipped in.

For Christ Church Foundation Chiara Chase has been leading the scoring while Brianna Holder, Stephian Shepherd and Romancia Odwin have all chipped in.

The Springer Memorial Team is made up of Laurel Browne, Aliah Coppin, Sierra Coward, Jaleen Douglas, Rhenea Gaskin, Diamond Hollingsworth, Tricia Phillips, Shonte Seale, Jada Smith, Sabreena Smith, Rashana Thorne and Jessie King and Julie Phillips.

For Christ Church Foundation the team is made up of Shanice Brathwaite, Chiara Chase, Dionna Coombs, Brianna Holder, Sandrene Jordan, Chante Moore, Carol-Ann Nurse, Romancia Odwin, Aiyana Reid, Quantya Rudder, Stephian Shepherd, Sheridian Straughn and Denis Osbourne (asst coach), Ingrid Folkes (manager) and Ricardo Carter (Primary care).

The inaugural tournament will feature 10 teams from six islands in the region. They are as follows:
Excelsior High and Holmwood Technical from Jamaica; Springer Memorial and Christ Church Foundation from Barbados; Scarborough Secondary and Toco Secondary from Trinidad &Tobago; Micoud Secondary and Soufriere from St Lucia; Dominica State College from Dominica; and Anglican High School from Grenada.(CG)
