Mixed fortunes in Premier League

The goals continue to roll in as the Barbados Football Association’s Coca Cola Premier League gets into high gear at the Wildey Turf. With two games being played at the venue on Saturday night, the fortunes were split as one game finished in an outright win while the other saw the two teams parting ways as equals.

The evening’s first game was something of an upset as Silver Sands got the better of the ‘Mighty Blues’ of Empire Club. The Blues went into the break ahead of the Christ Church team as Romario Clarke drew first blood in the 43rd minute. However, Silver Sands equalised and pulled ahead in the space of five minutes as Shakado Scott scored in the 63rd and De’Shawn Bynoe gave them the go-ahead in the 68th.

Silver Sands made it a two-goal cushion in the 88th as Derrick Gale-Forde found the nets. Empire would not lie down but could only muster a second goal in added time as Jamar Grazette put the ball in the onion bag in the 92nd.

The other game saw Notre Dame and the St. Andrew Lions finishing with a goal each. The Dames were up first and led into the interval with a 37th-minute strike from Zeco Edmee. Going the other way, Arantees Lawrence scored his second goal in new colours in the 58th to tie things up.
