Barbadians lined Broad Street to hail the Champions, Barbados Tridents.

Hundreds line the streets for Tridents

Barbadians came out in their numbers on Friday as the 2019 Hero CPL T20 Champions, the Barbados Tridents, took to the streets to celebrate their victory and to say thank you to the fans.

The “We de Champions” Motorcade commenced at the iconic Kensington Oval around 1 p.m. and journeyed through Bridgetown, including Broad Street where Barbadians took time out to cheer the champions on as they passed by.

Winning their second Hero CPL T20 title, the Tridents were accompanied by Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley, along with Minister of Sport, Culture and Creative Economy, John King and the new owners of the franchise – Manesh Patel of CMG Companies, out of the United States and local businessmen and entrepreneurs Kailash Pardasani of Promotech and Terrol Cummins and Arvind Gopwani of Silver Technetium Capital Inc. (STCI).

The Tridents defeated the favourites to win, the Guyana Amazon Warriors, by 27 runs in the final in Trinidad last weekend. It was an emotional journey for the players, owners and fans. However, the team showed great resolve in battling from being almost knocked out of the playoffs to making the final and lifting the crown. The motorcade was one to show love and support to all those who stood by them in the low times and through the challenges.

Captain Jason Holder and many of the Tridents players took the time to take photos with those in the crowd as well as signed autographs. The motorcade ended at Café 195 in Warrens where a crowd had already gathered to not only catch a glimpse of the Tridents and the Prime Minister, but also the coveted championship trophy, the hardware representing the pride of all of Barbados.
