Hope brothers test positive for Covid-19

The Barbados Pride cricket team is the latest to be hit by COvid-19 in Barbados.

With the 15-member side set to leave the island this Sunday, Shai and Kyle Hope were confirmed to have tested positive for Covid-19 after the first round of testing.

Shai opted out of the West Indies tour to Bangladesh and showed some impressive form during the trial matches, posting two centuries, but will now be sidelined along with his older brother Kyle.

The two replacements to the initial 15-member squad for the CG Insurance Super50 Cup, to be played in Antigua & Barbuda from February 7 – 27, 2021 are top order batsman Zachary McCaskie and wicketkeeper batsman Tevyn Walcott. Both are to immediately undergo the required testing and protocols.

The team is set to depart the island on Sunday January 31, following the stipulated testing and isolation periods set by Cricket West Indies (CWI), in consultation with the Government of Antigua & Barbuda.
