The victorious Green Machine team celebrating after winning their fourth straight title at Luther Thorne Memorial’s inter-house meet yesterday at the Usain Bolt Sports Complex.

Green House excel for a fourth year

Everyone will have to try again next year if they intend to take home the top spot and bragging rights as the Green Machine rolled over all competitors in the Luther Thorne Memorial’s annual inter-house sports.

Leading the other teams home for a fourth straight year, Green House made it clear that they were the champions by racking up 571 points while Yellow House were the closest with 504. Red House came in third with 485 points while Blue brought up the rear with 366.

The champions were helmed by strong performances by their Under-11

dynamos in Gia Greenidge and Micaiah Brathwaite as the pair ended as division champions with 38 points each. Greenidge was good for wins in the 100, 200 and 300 Metre events a fourth place in the Cricket Ball Throw and a seventh in the Long Jump, while Brathwaite did the same in the Boys equivalent and finished second in the Long Jump.

One spot up in the Under-13s, the Girls champion also took the Victrix Ludorum title and Keziah Monah of Red House helped herself to 49 points from top-four performances in all her events. She took Gold in the 200 Metres and Long Jump, while she was second in the 100, 400 and Cricket Ball Throw. She finished fourth in the 600 Metres.

The Under-13 Boys title went to Yellow House’s Azevier Callender and he raked in 27 points. On the day, he won the 400 Metres, finished fourth in the 200 and was fifth in the 100. He also got points in the field events which were held at the school and he was fourth in the Cricket Ball Throw and sixth in the Long Jump.

The Victor Ludorum came from Red House and Rhys Knight made off with 46 points after doing damage in five events. The Under-9 athlete knocked down wins in the 80 Metres, 100 Metres and the Cricket Ball Throw, whilefinishing second in the 150 Metres and the Long Jump.

Yellow House were in the divisional championships again and Jada Richards took the top spot in the Under-9 with 40 points. She had a perfect record with wins in the 80 Metres, 100 Metres, 150 Metres and the Long Jump.
