GAIA Tapeball Competition in full flight

 

After Match 24, the Barbados Fire Service from Zone A and Harlington and AB Stars from Zone B stand on 13 points each at the top of the table in the Grantley Adams International Airport 20/20 Tapeball Competition.
 
Fire Service stomped all over GAIA Inc ‘A’ at the Rices’ cricket ground in St. Phillip, winning by a massive 109 runs. Fire Service won the toss and decided to bat first. They made 172 for 4 in in their 20 overs with Adrian Connell scoring 41, Lorando Best 37, Athelbert Brathwaite 25 and Lonsdale Blake 15. Taurean Best had figures of 2 for 3 for his bowling effort for GAIA. In reply GAIA were bowled out for a paltry 63 in 19.3 overs. Levi Cadogan scored 12 runs while Jamar Hollingsworth had 10. Four Fire Service bowlers took two wickets in the mauling. Brian Shepherd had 2 for 6, Jared Bernadin 2 for 7, Deighton Waldron 2 for 9 and Dale Brathwaite 2 for 13.
 
AB Stars barely made it over the line after Caribbean Aircraft Handling (Ramp) fell short by 3 runs. Ab Stars went into bat after winning the toss to tally up 147 for 4 in 20 overs. Akanni McCollin fell short of a half century to score 46 in a steadfast effort in the middle. Kadaffy Cummins and Jamele Blair gave good support with 19 and 18 runs respectively. Blair was not out. Michael Holder was the only bowler that made proper inroads. He finished with figures of 2 for 22. 
 
In reply CAH were led by National player Ashley Nurse who had 43 runs and Sean Gittens hit 20 and Amory Holder 10. Corey Edwards tried his best to get the team home and was not out with 24 but ran out of partners in the end as CAH finished on 144 for 6 in their allotted overs. It was the second win on the trot by AB Stars as they had already beaten Goddard Catering Group by 13 runs four days prior.
 
Indar Weir Travel Centre Gem Stars beat Four Roads by 117 runs. Gem Stars won the toss and chose to bat. They scored a massive 200 for 4 after their 20 overs and Four Roads were unable to reach 100 in their effort. They were all out for 83 in 18.5 overs. Jofra Archer hit 77 not out for Gem Stars with the help of Ryan Nurse with 39 who also finished not out. Zidan Harewood scored 37 for Four Roads. Rachid O’neale had bowling figures of 3 for 6 for Gem Stars.
 
In other matches DHL beat CAH PSA by 49 runs and GAIA Inc ‘B’ beat Goddard Catering Group by eight wickets. (AS)
