Different Strokes Polo Edition event to raise awareness

The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Barbados has teamed up with Consolidated Finance Co. Limited and the Barbados Polo Club to put on a charity polo match and fundraising event called “Different Strokes Polo Edition”.

The event is in an effort to help raise awareness of the Heart Health and Wellness

It will be held at the Barbados Polo Club, Holders Hill, St. James and is being promoted as a family event where they have encouraged all Barbadians and all visitors to come out and enjoy a fine evening of entertainment on March 15, starting at 3 pm.

The patron of the event is Her Excellency Dame Sandra Mason, the Governor General of Barbados.

Speaking at the media launch held at the Regis Business Centre yesterday, Michelle Daniel, chief executive officer of the Heart and Stroke Foundation said that part of their mandate is public education about the heart and the stroke.

More than one-third of Barbadians aged 25-70 years suffer from hypertension, the main risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD) – the world’s number one killer. The Heart and Stroke Foundation has put heart health as one of its main priority areas.

The Corporate and Commercial Credit Division of Consolidated Finance Co. Limited confirmed its commitment to advancing heart health as well as financial wealth in Barbados through its $20 000 sponsorship of “Different Strokes – The Polo Edition” which was handed over to conclude the media launch.

Also present at the launch were  Consolidated Finance Co. Ltd. President/CEO Rolf Phillips; Head of Corporate and Commercial Credit, Darrell Wilson; The Heart & Stoke Foundation of Barbados Senior Vice-President, Ena Harvey; and Chief Executive Office of the Foundation, Michelle Daniel. (CG)
