Deacons roll over Progressive

Kings of Knockout Volleyball, Deacons, continue their impressive dominance in the 2020 season as they dismissed Progressive in quick time on Sunday in the Goddard Enterprises Limited Division One League at the Garfield Sobers Gymnasium.

Before Barbados Bearings Progressive, who were in the finals of the Knock-Outs, could settle into any type of rhythm, Deacons had wrapped up the first set 25-18, taking a mere 21 minutes to do so.

Deacons finished the Knock-Out tournament with a perfect record, having not dropped a single set throughout and are off to a similar start in the league.

They finished off Progressive 25-20, 25-18. This followed after they had polished off All Starz last Wednesday 25-13, 25-18, 25-17.

Last Wednesday, Progressive had defeated WOW Foundation United 27-25, 25-18, 22-25, 25-20.

The Deacons’ female team were also in winner’s row as they defeated Warrens in three straight sets 25-11, 25-23, 25-17.

Also continuing their winning run were UWI Blackbirds as they defeated the Club United 25-13, 25-22, 25-18. This comes on the back of their victory over DVM earlier last week 25-13, 25-22, 25-26.

However, the Club United have suffered their third defeat after losing to Chargers on Wednesday.

The Chargers came from two sets down to defeat DVM on Sunday 24-26, 21-25, 25-13,25-8, 15-9.

Also coming from two sets down to win were the Toners, who defeated Carlton 17-25, 22-25,25-18, 25-20, 16-14.

All Starz rebounded from their defeat at the hands of Deacons to defeat Chargers. After losing the first set 24-26, they recovered to win the next three sets 25-19, 25-18, 25-20. (CG)
