A Dacosta Edwards, All Saints and Gordon Greenidge take double wins

A Dacosta Edwards ruled things in the North on Friday when action in the Pine Hill National Sports Council Primary Schools Netball Competition came to an end for this week. Playing at Speightstown, the St. Andrew team was good for two big wins on the day to pick up some much-needed points.

Going up against St. Lucy Primary first, A Dacosta Edwards rolled to a six-nil lead at the end of the first half. When the game resumed a single goal from a single try by Goal Attack Shalon Henry saw St. Lucy going down 12-1. Goal Attack Makayla Boyce hit seven from nine attempts, while Faith Hinkson was good for five from nine to bring up the total for the winners. The other win came from Half Moon Fort who were unable to even get off a single shot. Four goals each from Boyce and Hinkson brought up the eight-nil win after leading by three at the first half.

The All Saint’s Primary girls were also in fine form on the day and added two wins to their tally. First off, they were also eight-nil winners over Half Moon Fort. Once again, Half Moon Fort were not allowed any shots. However, Goal Attack Elicia Phillips shot six of 13 and her partner at the pole, Natalia White hit two from four shots for the win after leading six-nil at the half. Win number-two came at the misfortune of Selah Primary. As in the earlier game, the opponents were unable to get the ball down the court for any attempts. This time, the score read three-nil and six-nil at the end of both halves with knocking down a perfect two from two, while White had four from six.

Rotten luck ran all day for Selah and they were also beaten by Gordon Greenidge Primary. Shots at goal were few and far between during the clash and Rickeisha Luke scored one from three for Gordon Greenidge at Goal Attack. Goal Shoot, Akera Harewood also had three attempts but she hit two of them. Selah could not manage any shots. Gordon Greenidge had a second win, handing down a second 11-point loss to St. Lucy Primary (13-2). Shalon Henry scored once from four shots for St. Lucy, while her Goal Shoot, Akayla Harvey had one from three. For Gordon Greenidge, Luke scored three of four and Harewood was good for seven of eight. A third shooter, Shadae Ellis was flawless with three points from three shots.

It was not all doom and gloom for St. St. Lucy as they were able to come away with a draw in a third game. They slugged it out to the end against Boscobel Primary as both teams finished with two points. For Boscobel, Ashanti Small scored both from two shots. Henry and Harvey had a one apiece from nine and two shots respectively.
