A buzz was created on Brandon’s Beach this past weekend as beach soccer took over.

BFA Beach Soccer Festival gets off the ground

After a resounding response in 2015, it was more of the same this year as well over 100 participants came out over this past weekend for the Barbados Football Association’s second series of Beach Soccer Festivals. Held on Saturday and Sunday at Brandon’s Beach, those on hand were introduced to the fundamentals of the internationally-recognised style of the sport which has been played on our island’s beaches for many years.

Kicking off from 9:00 AM each day, several men, women and children, including those from the neighbouring communities, were under the tutelage of four coaches over both days. According to the BFA’s Marketing and Communications Officer, Katrina Kirton, the programme was a success as persons involved enjoyed the instruction and made the most of both day’s activities.

The final installment of the 2016 festivals comes off on August 13th from 9:00 AM at the same venue while the tournament is set to run from August 14th to September 4th at the popular beach. (MP)
