Bayley’s Primary, Eden Lodge still undefeated

 

Bayley’s Primary and Eden Lodge are unbeaten after four rounds, while Wills Primary registered their first victory in the history of the National Sports Council’s Guardian Group Herman Griffith Primary Schools’ Cricket Competition.
 
Bayley’s defeated Blackman and Gollop by six wickets in Round Three and then went on to defeat Gordon Walters by 10 wickets in Round Four.
 
Against Blackman and Gollop Primary, Bayley’s bowled out their opponents for 29 runs with Shaquan Belle taking 2/6 and Daniel Duncan 1/6. In reply, they lost four wickets as they reached 32/4 with Daniel Joseph scoring 12.
 
Against Gordon Walters, Belle was once again among the leading wicket takers as he snagged 3/14, while Jaden Yarde took 3/8 as they bowled out their opponents for 32.
 
In reply, Bayley’s did not lose a wicket reaching 34 without loss and Darius Joseph scored 14 and Dahjaree Brathwaite 10.
 
Eden Lodge, who defeated the defending champion Wesley Hall in the opening match, continued their victory run when they defeated St. Giles by seven wickets at Eden Lodge.
 
With a five-wicket haul from Raheem Holder, Eden Lodge bowled out St. Giles for 48. Holder finished with 5/16 and was well supported by Romario Forde 2/10.
 
In reply, Eden Lodge reached 55/3 with Antoine Darlington and Romario Forde unbeaten on 13 and 12 respectively. St. Giles’ Steven Haynes took 3/12.
 
After their initial defeat by Eden Lodge, Wesley Hall have bounced back and have played unbeaten since then. When they met St. Stephen’s Primary, Wesley Hall bowled them out for 75 in the 21st over with Zachary Alexander taking 3/16 and Javonte Griffith 3/3.
 
In reply, Edwin Barnett led the way with an unbeaten 60 as Wesley Hall reached 79/2 in the 11th over to win by eight wickets.
 
Wills did not let a low score deter them from going after the victory when they came up against Vauxhall. Wills posted a total of 21 after Vauxhall’s Quavon McClean and Antonio Hamilton took 3/7 and 3/8 respectively.
 
However, their bowlers were up for the challenge and Wills’ Dion Grant and Jamie Griffith took 4/6 and 4/7 respectively to win their first ever match in the history of the tournament by one run.
 
St. James edge over the line in a tie as a result of the run rate. Playing against Good Shepherd Primary, St. James was bowled for 68 in the 24th over with Jalen Brooks scoring 36 runs and Darren Holder 12. For Good Shepherd, James Pounder took 4/15.
 
In reply, Good Shepherd also fell for the exact score with Holder taking 4/9.
 
In their Round Three match, St. James played West Terrace at the Desmond Haynes Complex. St. James bowled out West Terrace for 78 with Darren Holder taking 4/15 and Jalen Brooks 3/9 for St. James.
 
In reply, Brooks was undefeated in 36 runs and Holder also undefeated on 18 runs as they reached 79/3 to win by seven wickets.
 
In other matches, St. Stephen’s Primary defeated George Lamming by six wickets after Akeem McCollin with his 40 runs helped George Lamming to 72/3. But it was smooth sailing for St. Stephen’s as they scored 75/4. Also in victory row was Gordon Greenidge, who defeated Selah Primary by 29 runs.
 
Reynold Weekes had a convincing 60-run victory over Hilda Skeene. Reynold Weekes scored 87 and turned around and bowled out Hilda Skeene for 27, thanks to Javonte Crawford who took six wickets for one run.
 
St. Christopher won by eight wickets over Vauxhall and Milton Lynch defeated St. Gabriel’s by 31 runs. (CG)
