Barbados Pride win by seven wickets

Barbados Pride completed a seven-wicket victory over Guyana Jaguars on the fourth and final day of their second round match in the West Indies First-Class Championship at Kensington Oval.

Barbados were set 79 runs for victory after they managed to roll over the lower order batsmen of Guyana. Shamarh Brooks with 44 runs took the home team to victory as they lost three wickets in the small run chase.

Barbados finished on 79 for three as they lost openers Shayne Moseley (0), and Kraigg Brathwaite (23), and then Jonathan Carter (7).

Guyana started the day on 141/3 in their second innings with Vishaul Singh (56*) and Raymond Reifer (17*) still in the middle.

However, Reifer was dismissed for 31 runs and ended the 68-run, fourth wicket partnership.

Singh went on to score 79 runs before he was dismissed by Chemar Holder, and the wickets came at regular intervals after that.

Only 27 runs were scored for the last four wickets as Guyana were bowled out for 258.

In reply Barbados lost their first wicket in the second over with the score on 10. Opener Kraigg Brathwaite and Shamarh Brooks then added 60 runs for the second wicket.

Needing nine runs for victory, Barbados lost Brathwaite and then with only one run for victory they lost Jonathan Carter before Brooks struck the winning run.
