Barbados Pride announces team

There are two debutantes on the Barbados Pride Squad, which was announced yesterday by the Chairman of selectors Henderson Wallace at Kensington Oval.

The team which was selected for the first match of the 2016/17 West Indies Cricket Board’s Digicel SportsMax Professional Cricket League Regional 4-Day Tournament, will be led by Kevin Stoute as the two captains in Jason Holder and Kraigg Brathwaite are on West Indies duties.

The two making their debut for the ride are Anthony Alleyne and Aaron Jones.

The Pride’s first match is slated to be against the Leeward Islands Hurricanes at Warner Park, St. Kitts from November 11-14.

Speaking in the ICBL Suit in the 3Ws stand Wallace pointed out that Barbados has a number of players who are currently on West Indies duty and this makes the depth of their squad important as it will prove how they will do in the long-term.

Wallace said that the team has had a considerable preparation period which started in August as the season is slated to be a lengthy one.

With the nature of the game changing, the WICB has also included some day/night matches with the pink cricket ball and the Pride’s first day/night match will be in Round 4 against the Defending champions Guyana Jaguars from December 9 to 12 at the Guyana National Stadium.

The head coach of the team is Emmerson Trotman, the manager is Wendell Coppin. (CG)
