Speechcraft graduands give back

In attempt to show their gratitude and appreciation for the team members who worked with them, the graduates of the first Speechcraft Programme presented tokens of appreciation to their mentors.

Speaking during a brief presentation, following the graduation ceremony of the City of Bridgetown Co-operative Credit Union Ltd’s (COB) first Speechcraft Programme, which took place at their headquarters in Bridgetown yesterday afternoon, one of the graduates, Brittany Yearwood extended a hearty thank you to the persons who mentored the group of 12 interns over the last eight weeks.

She, along with her fellow graduates, thanked the Co-ordinator of the event, Toastmaster, Marcia Tulle-King, for the hard work that she put in to ensure that the interns were receiving only the best.

Eight of the 12 interns were present for yesterday’s graduation ceremony and the audience got the pleasure of seeing these young people put what they had learnt over the past eight weeks to work, as each of them delivered eloquent speeches.

Tulle-King expressed that she was truly grateful to have been given the opportunity to be partnered with the COB CARES (Children Are Really Enthusiastic Savers) Programme to present the first Speechcraft Programme for the interns.

“The Speechcraft programme is designed to give advanced Toastmasters the opportunity to present the fundamentals of public speaking, as well as acquiring leadership skills and I’m certain those of you in the COB know that its not always about speaking but there are times we have to employ our leadership skills in order to get the job done,” she said.

“The programme also helped persons to embrace the core values of which Toastmasters International stand for; integrity, respect, service and excellence. All of these were embraced in this way.”

She noted that she believed that out of all the internship groups they have mentored and interned over the years during the summer at COB, that this current year was the most intriguing group of people to have worked with.
