CHRO, Charmaine Napoleon-Ramsay, as she made her remarks.

Speechcraft programme successful

Yesterday concluded the first Speechcraft Programme, hosted by the City of Bridgetown Co-operators Credit Union Ltd., and it was successful.

Speaking during the graduation ceremony of the 12 young interns that took part in the eight week long programme, Chief Human Resources Manager, Charmaine Napoleon-Ramsay proudly reported that the programme was so successful, their employees were requesting for the programme to be hosted with them in mind.

“Through this programme we exposed the younger members of our organisation to all aspects of financial planning and knowledge so that as they become the adults of tomorrow they are active participants in what COB has to offer. So this allows us to have that opportunity to secure COB’s future,” she said.

“I am proud of this particular infusion because this is the first year that we have done this Speechcraft Programme. I think this is really one way of looking to how we can better improve and add to the development of the young interns that come in. We don’t just want you to come in here and be assigned to the department with nothing to do. We want that when you walk out of here, you do it as better human beings and I feel that we are more satisfied knowing that we have been successful in this endeavour.”

She thanked Toastmasters International for partnering with them to bring this programme to their group of summer interns. Some of the areas covered during this programme were Speaking with Power, Passion and Purpose, Impromptu Speaking and Speech Evaluations.

She expressed that per request of her employees, it was her hope to bring the programme to them. However, she cautioned that the programme required quite a bit of commitment.

"We hope that we will be able to extend this to our employees. Yes, it is a great programme, but it requires a high level of commitment. As long as we have a group of committed persons at COB, then we will be able to create such a programme for our employees,” she said.
