Children flocked around Santa Claus from the minute he arrived.

Christmas Wonderland at Sandy Lane Resort

The children of staff members of the Sandy Lane Resort were treated to an incredible evening of fun, laughter, magic, gifts and food as the resort kicked off their Christmas celebrations with a Christmas Appreciation Fair, which was held at Sandy Lane’s Bennett Golf Turf yesterday evening.

The fair was held under the theme, “In Wonderland”, and many of the booths were fashioned after Alice’s journey through Wonderland. The event included a magic show, a station with Alice in Wonderland-themed desserts, giant-sized chess and checkers boards, and life-sized cutouts of characters from movies for the kids to take pictures with.

Resha Daniel, Public Relations Manager at Sandy Lane Resort, revealed that they were just using the fair as a way to celebrate the children of the staff, noting that they had rides, face painting, clowns and even arcade games to ensure that the older children had a grand time as well.

“Each child is given a gift, depending on their age and Santa Claus will be making an appearance and he is going to be giving out extra gifts as well. So we have lots of food and drinks and games to celebrate with,” she said.

“We have been doing this [hosting the fair] for 16 years now for all the children of the staff, just as a way to give back. The kids have a blast and we try to make it bigger and better every year. You know obviously when the children get older we have to make the rides and activities more exciting for them, which is why we included the painting and the rides and the video arcade with the X-Box and the PlayStation in a special room,” it was further pointed out.

The Public Relations Manager noted that this was only the beginning of the celebrations that were going to take part at the Resort and revealed that they had an upcoming Staff Appreciation Party as well as their Charitable Trust, like it has been doing throughout the year, will also be giving back to the community and to underprivileged children in Barbados.
