Standard Distributors showing confidence in Barbados

Standard Distributors, a member of the ANSA McAL (Barbados) Ltd. group of companies continues to demonstrate its commitment to Barbados and faith that the economic climate will improve.

Yesterday, this was shown with the opening of its third store on the island in the Millhouse & Home Complex, Cane wood, St Thomas becoming more accessible to customers outside of Bridgetown just in time for Christmas.

Standard Distributors has been serving Barbados for the past 58 years, however over the last four years has completely transformed its retail footprint and re-energised its brand with a new contemporary store design.

“Standard Barbados has taken on a totally new face… every store has been newly renovated, an entirely new warehouse and new management; 100 percent geared to customer service and delivering the quality that we are known for. This has become the cornerstone of our success in every region we operate in,” Deputy Managing Director of Standard Distributors Ltd (Trinidad), Kathleen Galy pointed out during the official opening of the new store.

“But customer service is not just centred around the renovation of our showrooms, and bringing an international touch and feel to our stores. It is not just about ensuring that our product is displayed with flair and style, but rather a movement that must be at the centre of all that we do…Our company mantra proudly reads “Quality is not an Act…It is a Habit”. A simple yet powerful string of words, which we aspire to hold true to.”

CEO of Standard Barbados, Katrina Newton said that not only have they changed the look and feel of the stores but also their locations, namely Norman Centre in Bridgetown, the MQI Complex in Wildey and the latest addition in the Millhouse & Home Complex – the first time in well over a decade that Standard Distributors has three stores in Barbados.

“At Standard we continue to believe that quality, beautiful merchandise should be accessible to all,” she stressed, highlighting that customers can find internationally recognised brands like Kenmore and Frigidaire in the appliance department; the latest in audio visual technology from Samsung, Sony and LG in the electronics department; and on trend furniture and accessories to enhance both indoor and outdoor living spaces.

Newton also revealed that the new location will showcase unique locally made products by Medford Mahogany and art pieces by Barbadian artists in partnership with the Artists Alliance, to highlight the great talent on this island. (TL)
