Natasha Bonaparte was in a class of her own and commanded the stage in the Women’s Physique class on her way to first place.

C’bean ladies vie in two new classes

They were two small categories but the ladies within the Women’s Wellness Fitness and Women’s Physique showed that the 2017 edition of the Darcy Beckles Bodybuilding Invitational Classic, Bikini and Fitness competition had truly attracted the best the Caribbean had to offer.

The two classes were new to the show, but that did not stop First Fitness’ Anke Griffith from posing her way to first place in the Wellness Fitness category. She placed fourth in last year’s Bikini Fitness section, but stepped up her game to show improvement all round to win the new class.

In second was Militia Galimo of Suriname who trains at Fitness Factory, equalling her performance at Darcy Beckles last year but in Bikini Fitness. Janelle Butcher also of First Fitness earned herself the bronze medal and Dacia Vandeyar of Lifestyle Fitness Centre was fourth.

Trinidad and Tobago came out in stunning form for the Women’s Physique category and copped the top two spots. Defending Champion Natasha Bonaparte was the clear winner in the class, even before the judges began to make their observations. Bonaparte gave the crowd an exceptional performance in her individual pose-down and they responded with hoots and hollering from below. She took first place followed by her countrywoman Fiona Barker in second place while Julia Davis of Barbados, hailing from Brute Force, was third. (AS)
