St. Michael South sack St. Philip West

SIX goals were on the menu for St. Michael South this week when the David Thompson Memorial Constituency Councils’ Football Classic saw some games rescheduled from the past weekend. Playing at Passage Road against St. Philip West on Wednesday night, a Tristan Parris hat-trick secured the win as the St. Philip side could only muster two goals in reply.

By the end of the first half, St. Michael South had rolled to three goals as Shaquille Boyce opened things up in the 11th minute, only to be followed by DeCarlo Jemmott in the 15th. Parris got his first goal in the 29th minute, while St. Philip West pulled one back in the fourth through the efforts of Kishmar Knight. Going the other direction, Omani Leacock got things going again for St. Michael South as he scored in the 48th. Parris continued the woes with goals in the 54th and 57th. St. Philip West tried to save some face with a 66th-minute goal from Shakarie Mottley.

In the feature game at the venue, home team St. Michael West went down to neighbours St. Michael South-Central, two goals to one. South-Central struck first with Walton Burrowes putting his team up in the 13th minute. The lead was extended to 2-0 when Ramario Coppin added a second in the 47th minute. The hosts got a consolation goal in the 58th minute from Kemar Headley.

Over at Ellerton, Christ Church East pulled out a slim win over two-time champions, City of Bridgetown, in the first game there. It was a single goal from Jared Rice on the hour that sealed the deal for Christ Church East.

The night-cap game saw the hosts, St. George South breaking even with another two-time champion, Christ Church East-Central. East-Central set up themselves early for the win with goals from Khalil Gill (2nd) and Amal Mayers (5th). When it looked like they were all set for the win, two late goals saw the hosts coming back to take the draw. Dario Harewood pulled one back in the 80th, while Shakille Belle knocked home the equaliser in the 91st minute.
