Realtors Canadian Polo Tour underway

WITH the last match being a high scoring affair, ending in a 5-5 draw, the 2016 Canadian Polo Tour is well underway at the Holders Polo Field and promises to be the best thus far.

The Realtors Canadian Tour has finally returned to Barbadian shores are a long hiatus. It is the fourth tour of the season for The Barbados Polo Club (BPC) having already hosted the Diamonds International Battle of the Sexes, UNNA ICBL Cheshire Tour and the Archers Hall Barbados Open. The tour started March 30th and will run till Sunday April 3rd where the curtains will come down on the penultimate event for the Barbados Polo Club. It is a special tour for the club as they seek to raise the awareness about various organisations associated with the club including Operation Triple Threat and Honey Jam. They also seek to encourage discipline and rewarding good sportsmanship by including community based groups including the girls of the Springer Memorial School who were very involved in the Battle of the Sexes Tour.

Realtors Luxury Villas Rentals are on board as a sponsor to support the event and they will be providing not only financial support but also a Beach and Bubbly area for the Sunday event where persons can come and enjoy themselves at the family oriented day at Holders. Popular Chef Scott Aimes will also be on location serving up some of the best sushi on the island. Diamonds International is once again lending a helping hand to the club, along with Realtors in collaboration with the Canadian Women’s Club to raise funds for charity. The Burnscar Garment Fund is the charity which will be benefiting from a raffle where the prizes will be a three night stay at one of the Realtors Luxury Villas and also a beautiful piece of jewelry compliments Diamonds international. The Burnscar Garment Fund’s main initiative is to provide special dressings, splints, braces and pressure garments for children who are burn victims. The raffle tickets are fifty dollars and are on sale at each day of the tournament.

The players representing the Barbados Polo Club include some of the young talent present in the club. This is worth nothing as they are second and third generation players from some of the families who have been in the club for decades. Fourteen year old Zoe Archer played with her father Wayne Archer on Friday for the first time Friday game and Jake Bayley, the son of Bruce Bayley will also be playing.

One of the special features of this tour as well is that there will be a Barbadian player playing with the Canadian team in each match. Yesterday Luis Clerici played with the Canadian team, while on Sunday President of the BPC, Wayne Archer will join forces with the Canadians. Sundays event promises to be one to remember and the Barbados Polo Club extends the invitation to all interested or curious about the sport of polo to come support and have fun and see what it is all about.
