Digicel reports positive feedback

BARBADIANS have responded extremely favourably to the Digicel Play, a new initiative the company launched recently.

That’s what CEO of Digicel Barbados, Conor Looney, told The Barbados Advocate during an interview. Digicel Play, which launched at the Colonnade on Broad Street, offers customers high speed broadband television and fixed-line services.

Speaking from his Warrens, St. Michael office, Mr. Looney said that “the feedback has been phenomenal. We have had thousands of customers who have signed up to Digicel Play”.
He recalled that when they launched the service, they  actually did it quietly; the reason being that they wanted to make sure they got the service right.

Furthermore, the response is very reassuring. Having undertaken a significant financial commitment, “it was reassuring from customers who had joined the Digicel family”.

As such, the CEO pointed out that if the company sees an opportunity to offer the best value or the best network, they are certain the customers will respond positively to that.

“So it is not surprising. It is reassuring that we can see that customers who are experiencing the best service now, are then telling their friends and their families this is something better
than what they have experienced before,” he remarked.

He also pointed out that the fixed-line service the company is offering to Barbadians is quite unique.

“In simple terms what it means is that when you signed up to Digicel Play, you avail of the fixed-line home phone. You basically receive a phone for your home and then you just pay for the phone calls made,” Mr. Looney explained.

“It is a pay-as-you-go phone service; you don’t pay $45 a monthly rental. It is very unique and very customer-oriented and it is not about generating a rental every month from customers who do not use the home telephone as much as they use the mobile phone,” he stated.

“That’s the Digicel difference, the Digicel DNA. The Digicel difference is that the customer is our boss and the heart of everything we do,” he added. (JB)
