MAKE USE OF TECHNOLOGY

THE range of technologies available can redound to the growth and success of companies. To this end, businesses in Barbados must try to use technologies to the fullest to advance their operations.

That’s the message Jenson Sylvester, Regional Director for IT Solutions at Cable and Wireless Business, outlined to those attending yesterday’s luncheon of the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), held at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Conference Centre.

He said that there are four technologies driving growth in business – social networking, mobile computing, data analytics and cloud computing. According to him, companies are using these technologies to reach and satisfy their customers, and to empower their staff.

Sylvester also noted that customer expectations have changed and they want a higher level of service. “Social networking, for example, allows you to get closer to your customers; social networking allows you to bring you closer to users, customers and employers,” he pointed out while also noting that mobile computing can also be the platform to drive businesses.
