Principal of the Alexandra School, Orson Alleyne said that the St. Peter educational institution is ready for the new school term.

We are ready!

Principal of the Alexandra School, Orson Alleyne is ready for the new school term.

He made this assertion during a brief interview with the Barbados Advocate during worship at Whitehall Methodist Church on Sunday.
The Principal of the school said that he commended the work of his staff, who collaborated to prepare the school for the return of students. He indicated that the compound had been examined, required signs erected, personnel designated to check students’ temperatures and sanitising stations are in place.

“We want to ensure the safety of everybody,” said Principal Alleyne.

The educator said this will be fluid and students will return in groups. He explained that just about 300 students will be accommodated at the St. Peter educational institution and the number will fluctuate.

Concerns about student accommodation

The principal also spoke about the concerns of parents. He said that most parents were worried about the type of arrangements made for students while they are on the school compound.

In response to a question about the welfare of students who are asthmatics or have medical conditions, the principal said that the school will work closely with the parents and put special provisions in place for these children.

He re-emphaised that the Ministry of Education is effectively handling the preparation for the new school term during COVID-19. He added that the officials from the ministry are meeting school administration and they are following the protocols.

“(The Ministry of Education) is following through and will put in place any provision that is necessary to ensure that things go well,” said Principal Alleyne.
