Unite and move B’dos forward

It is time to get serious about what is going on in this country.

Chair of the Convention of the Women’s League of the Barbados Labour Party (BLP), Shanika Roberts-Odle, made this call during the annual convention “On the road to rescuing Barbados”, yesterday.
This year’s convention, which was held at Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic (SJPP), is in honour of Barbados’ 50 years of Independence, and the men and women of the BLP who made significant contributions to Barbados’ past and future.

“We need to get serious not as a Party, but as a people,” she stressed.

“What we need to recognise is that we are all Barbadians and we all suffer when things do not go right. We need to attack our problems as a people… One of the things that I am hoping and that I envision going forward is that we come together as a people. At the end of the day, no one person has the idea, no one Party as the idea – we as a people have the concept, the ideas and the will to move forward as a people, instead of just sitting back,” she asserted.

Roberts-Odle went on to describe Leader, the Hon. Mia Mottley as a “strong women”, praising her commitment to the Party.

“When something needs to be done, she makes sure it happens. When something goes wrong, she corrects it. We need to live in that embodiment and work with that embodiment – taking that spirit going forward in our community.”
