Jamaica reggae superstar David Constantine Brooks, stage name Mavado, connected with his fans during his performance at the FAS7STAR Hennessy Artistry show, which was held at the Kensington Oval on Saturday night.

Thousands enjoy Artistry weekend

THE much-anticipated FAS7STAR Hennessy Artistry show came off over the weekend, drawing thousands of music lovers to the event that features local, regional and international artistes.

On Saturday night, the Kensington Oval was energized with performances from opening acts Fada Fox, the “orange-haired songbird” Nikita and Lil Rick. They were followed by a 20-minute performance by Canadian artist and Grammy-award nominee Tory Lanez. He set the stage for Miguel “Sizzla” Kalonji, who took the audience through his many hits. He was later joined by local reggae artists led by Buggy Nhakente, who seemingly enjoyed their time on stage in spite of some technical difficulties.

“Uncle Beres” as he’s affectionately known in Barbados, the consummate performer, crooned his way into the hearts of his fans all over again with his endless hits on the night. Jamaican artist Mavado brought the curtains down on the show, in an hour-long performance, bringing it to a close just before 4 am. His set was briefly interrupted by a small altercation in the crowd, which he drew to the attention of the security, after which he seamlessly continued his performance.

The weekend action continued yesterday with Hennessy Artistry on the Beach at Pirate’s Cove in the City, dubbed Fire Island, featuring Popcaan, Riggo Suave, Marz Ville, Tony Matterhorn, Stiffy, Scrilla, and Rico Maserati to name a few.
