St. Paul’s Fiesta a success!

ON National Heroes Day, persons across Barbados engaged in different activities to honour their national heroes whether by paying tributes, a moment of silence or coming together as one, being thankful for a free society.

The St. Paul’s Fiesta was one such event bringing people together as one. The Fiesta, now in its 16th year, went off with a bang under the theme ‘Our Youth, Our Future’ as numerous stalls covered the grounds of the St. Gabriel’s School providing a wide selection of interest for patrons.

This year, the presence of the Broken Trident at the fiesta served as an added bonus for some, who were busy taking pictures of it. Patrons also took the opportunity to reconnect, reminisce and just have a good time, while the younger ones enjoyed themselves on the different rides and jumping tents.

Judith Millar, Vice Chair of the St. Paul’s Fiesta Committee, told The Barbados Advocate, “This year we are recognising the theme ‘Our Youth, Our Future’. The Fiesta is a family affair; a day of fellowship and fun. A way of us giving back to the community as we try to raise funds for the church and any good charity or community effort we can assist with.

“Every year we have a beneficiary and that contract is for three years. Starting this year, our beneficiary is the Albert Cecil Graham Development Centre and we will be giving to them for the next three years.”

She also revealed, “Every year we have a hero. Someone we honour. Someone who does good within the community or the church. This year our hero is Patrick Garnes, Sunday School superintendent for many years. He’s always willingly to assist our young people, helping them in any way possible.”
