President of Soroptimist International of Jamestown, Andrea Farmer, making the presentation of vegetables, bottled waters and masks to students and Principal of Good Shepherd Primary School, Wilma McClean.

Soroptimist Int'l of Jamestown in action

Good Shepherd Primary School has a friend in Soroptimist International (SI) of Jamestown.

The charitable organisation, whose mandate is to improve the lives of women, children and the elderly of Barbados, recently held its annual World Food Day session with the boys and girls, encouraging them to make better food choices. And to ensure that the students adhere to the advice, the members of SI Jamestown boosted the school's garden with new planters and vegetable plants such as cucumbers, beets, lettuce and tomatoes.

Also, ensuring the safety of students and teachers given the COVID-19 pandemic, SI Jamestown President Andrea Farmer presented Principal Wilma McClean with masks, hand sanitizers as well as restroom signage to promote proper hand washing and cleaning practices to avoid the spread of germs and illnesses.
