Shortage concern

Staff shortages are not only impacting the Royal Barbados Police Force (RBPF), but the Police Band as well.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Oral Williams, who is responsible for the band, is hoping that the deficit being faced at this time can be addressed sooner rather than later, as failure to address the reduced numbers could negatively impact the future of the prominent musical group. His comments came during a ceremony to mark the 130th anniversary of the Band and presentation of medals to band members at the Prince Cave Hall, District ‘A’ Police Station Complex, where he hinted at the benefits once accrued from attracting young people, as young as 14 years, to be band cadets and apprentices.
