Salvation Army thanks Massy for giving back

The Salvation Army’s Divisional Commander, Major Sinous Theodore has openly expressed his gratitude to the Massy family, for their kind spirited gesture of giving back to the Barbadian community by hosting a Christmas Party at the Army’s Headquarters for over 350 needy persons.

On Friday, hundreds lined up patiently outside the Salvation Army’s dining hall, waiting to present their tickets to gain entry into the Christmas Party and to partake of the Christmas meal, consisting of ham, turkey and other special treats issued at this time of year. Those attending were also treated to a specially baked Christmas cake, as staff from Massy Distribution and Massy United Insurance teamed up to truly bring Christmas cheer to the less fortunate.  “We are very happy that we have a company like Massy Distribution and Massy United Insurance and they are not thinking only of making profit, but they are thinking of giving back something to the community and in the case of today, they have chosen the recipients of our programme,” Theodore commented.

“We (at the Salvation Army) wanted to thank them. It is a venture that we applaud and we trust that others will (follow in their footsteps). It may not be the same thing, they may do something different,” he added.

The Divisional Commander meanwhile thanked all those corporate entities and citizens who have already given to the charitable organisation so far this year or who are still planning to do so.

“We thank those who will write a cheque or two, because our programme is day in, day out throughout the year. We want to say thanks to everyone who has supported the Salvation Army and especially today (Friday), Massy Insurance and Massy Distribution,” Theodore stated. (RSM)
