Response to ‘My Child and I’ foundation encouraging

The general feedback that the “My Child and I” Charity receives continues to grow as more parents recognise that the foundation satisfies a need.

This was revealed by the Chairperson of the charity, Francine Charles, during a My Child and I Charity stakeholders’ breakfast which was held at the Hilton Hotel yesterday morning. Charles revealed that the charity started as a passion
because they felt that parents needed help in regards to raising their children in a technology filled world and changing times. She said that the feedback they received from the content that the charity was putting out into the digital world, showed them that parents were in need of the help and support that they provided. She noted that one of the charity’s main goals is to advise parents on how to raise productive and positive children in changing times.

“The charity is indeed meeting a need that is out there,” she said.

Charles revealed that the charity was using television and radio programmes to reach their audience and was proud of the fact that they were able to air their television programme in over 20 countries, as well as having a weekly radio programme which started in 2016, on Starcom, here in Barbados. She also revealed that between 2015 and 2016, they were able to conduct five workshops in Dominica, Grenade and Barbados, and added that, with the help of the Child Care Board in Barbados, they were able to host one workshop every year during child month and mentioned that the feedback from these different workshops had a ranking of 80 per cent in terms of satisfaction.

Charles also mentioned that the Online Resource Centre will be going live on the Internet at the end of March and was happy to reveal that the website was the future as it will give persons the opportunity to meet and interact with the material online such as articles or a radio or television programme.

The Chairperson revealed that with the help of two critical foundations, ASPIRE and Congress Corporate, which is based in Trinidad and Tobago, My Child and I Charity will be able to build and grow in such a way that
enables them to remain committed to helping parents with raising their children for many years to come.
