Reggae love shared on the Hill

THOUSANDS OF reggae lovers made their way to Farley Hill for one of the biggest and most anticipated annual events in Barbados.

A few drizzles couldn’t dampen the mood of the crowd at the 2018 Digicel Reggae on the Hill show who came out in droves later in the afternoon. By 4 pm the first Jamaican artist Maxi Priest came to the stage, performing hits like Some Guys Have All the Luck and Just a Little Bit Longer.

However the crowd would have to wait nearly two hours later to see the next act to come on stage, and some performers lamented that they had to cut some of their songs short because of time constraints. Tarrus Riley took command of the stage around 7.35 pm with hits like Start A New, Getty Getty and Don’t Come Back. He was joined on stage by Barbados Labour Party leader Mia Mottley during his performance of She’s Royal.

He set the stage for Jah Cure who gave a passionate performance to the delight of his adoring female fans. With hits like When I find that Girl, Longing For, Never Find, Love Is and ending his set with Longing for.

Next on stage was Everton Blender performing hits such as Lift Up Your Head, Ghetto People Song and A Piece of the Blender. He was followed by Queen Ifrica, who graced the stage for another Reggae on the Hill to the delight of the massive audience with hits like Lioness on the Rise, Keep it to yourself, Below the Waist.

Bringing the show to a close after 11 pm was Anthony B with his popular Hurt The Heart, Storm Winds, Damage already Done.

Local performers opened the event just after 2 pm, featuring Triple X, Kalead, King Slimz, EZB, Tabitha and Supastar. The show also featured several guest artistes adding value to the show including the up and coming Davinah, daughter of the legendary Tony Rebel, performed with her stepmother Queen Ifrica.
