QEH receives infection control supplies

Three cordless electrostatic sprayers, which are described as the “next generation of infection control” in hospitals, and a supply of Purtab tablets were recently presented to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH).

This donation was been made possible through CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank, in collaboration with Servall Inc.

Director of Regulatory Affairs at CIBC FirstCaribbean, Joannie Worrell, said that the machines can be used after a patient is discharged and prior to a new patient entering the space or when a room is contaminated.

“They can also be used to disinfect beds – the headboard, footboard and bedframe, the railings, the curtains and rods, vertical and horizontal surfaces, bathrooms and showers – in fact, all the touch points on a ward.”

She therefore emphasised that infection control is one of the critical departments at any hospital or healthcare facility, including the QEH.

“The effectiveness of the work of infection control professionals has a direct relationship on overall staff and patient well-being, and we are happy to contribute to your efforts,” Worrell further expressed during the handover, which took place at the opening ceremony to mark the start of activities for Infection Control Week 2019 at the Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO), Dayrell’s Road.}
