Public pay their final respects to Sir Anthony

THE mood was morose at St. Matthew’s Anglican Church yesterday as
members of the public made their way to pay their final respects to
Sir Anthony Bryan KA, CHB, GCM, JP. The Publisher and owner of The
Barbados Advocate passed away recently after a brief illness and
persons from every social tier in Barbados came out to see him off.

With his relatives on hand at the church, visitors were met with the
soothing sounds of some of Sir Anthony’s favourite music. With a
playlist that featured the likes of Moon River by Audrey Hepburn, The
Lonely Shepherd by Gheorghe Zamfir, and the James Bond theme, the
atmosphere was lifted despite the quiet sadness that prevailed.

With the viewing starting at 3 p.m., there was an intermittent flow of
family, friends, associates and members of the business community who
all came to say their goodbyes to a man that touched many a life.

Among those visiting on the day were Ambassador Elizabeth Thompson and
former Minister of Tourism, Richard Sealy.

Sir Anthony will be laid to rest today.
