Price-Lo opens

“We guarantee that when you come here, you will have savings.”

 

This was the assurance given by Managing Director of Massy Stores (Barbados) Limited, Randall Banfield, as he spoke to the media yesterday moments before the official opening of the newest supermarket on the island, Price-Lo.

 

The discount store, which is located at what was formerly the JBs Mastermart in Sargeant’s Village, is the newest in the Massy family.

 

Assuring that customers would get the best deal on a wide range of options, Banfield pointed out that this new supermarket is based on a model focused on keeping costs down from the brands that were chosen and to even how products were displayed on the floor.

 

“We spent a lot of time brainstorming around the procedures and processes and the structure of this business because we hear our customers. They are asking for better pricing and for better value and we have spent a lot of time reengineering our whole business model to be able to engineer great reductions in cost and pass on those savings to customers by the way of good prices,” he said.

 

Another such way is by encouraging Barbadians to bring their own bags to carry their purchases, as he explained that anyone wishing a plastic bag would have to buy one.

With a staff complement of 35, he noted that services such as the pharmacy, bakery and Surepay were still available at the facility, and stated that the deli will be replaced with a “grab and go” section at a later date and that the banking facilities would soon reopen.

 

“Come for the low prices and stay for the quality products,” Banfield therefore encouraged. (JMB)
