Prayer can help

Even though Evangelist Courtney Selman believes that the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) is doing all that they can to address the growing water problems on the island,
he believes that there is nothing a little prayer cannot fix.

His sentiments came yesterday morning at a prayer event hosted by The Prayer Warriors outside the BWA Headquarters. Selman believes that “prayer is more powerful than anything else”, and is exactly what needs to be done to help address these water challenges in Barbados.

Selman said that for the past 13 years, The Prayer Warriors have noticed some of the needs of the island and have been praying and helping out, either with businesses, schools or ports of entry in Barbados, with some of the acute needs of these establishments, so them gathering to pray yesterday morning was nothing new. However, based on all that the group was doing, it was clear that they believed that prayer and effort go hand in hand.

He stated that the group had recognised some of the challenges that were faced by people in Barbados and said that they visited St. Joseph in September to assist residents with their water challenges and support BWA by distributing water in that parish. The Evangelist noted that yesterday’s goal was to distribute water in St. Andrew, St. Peter, St. Lucy, St. Thomas and St. James, the areas that are also acutely affected by water problems. He explained that they had two vehicles that were assigned to two parishes and that they planned to deliver the water to these parishes right after their prayer event.

All their praying is not in vain and Selman noted that their prayers have been successful in view of the recent storm, Tropical Storm Matthew, that passed Barbados and brought rain to the island in a time that it needed the water. He believed that their prayers will continued to be answered.
