Old scholars donate to school

Old scholars of the Foundation School, and members of the Lighthouse Lights and Lighthouse Knights made a contribution of 30 chairs and 30 desks yesterday to that school valued at $8 000.
Andrea Gittens of the female arm of the association, the Lighthouse Lights, said that they communicated with both members of this group as well as non-members from Barbados, the region and the world via their What’s App group. She said that each made a contribution so that they were able to purchase and import these desks and chairs.
Not wanting to disclose the source, she said that they found out that the school needed furniture and that is why they decided to make the contribution.
Principal, Robert Cumberbatch said that they are pleased to receive the donation of these tables and chairs. The furniture has been used already by parents at a year level meeting who remarked that they were “comfortable”.
The furniture would now be placed in one of the school’s specialist rooms, preferably the computer lab since the furniture is “ergonomic”.
He also pointed out that some of the other things that the school would be looking at getting in the near future are picnic tables for the students to sit and eat lunch as well as some fans to be placed in some of the rooms.
