New Head of ISSA Barbados Chapter

After the annual elections held on April 11, Brian White is now the new president of the Barbados Chapter of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA Barbados).

His new Board members are Vice President, Jason Downey, Secretary, Dwight Robinson, Treasurer, Dawn Barrow, Events & Education Director, David Gittens and Membership Director, Francois Griffith.

President White speaking on behalf of the new Board members said they are grateful for the opportunity to continue to champion the initiatives of the chapter in terms of promoting a digitally secure Barbados.

Term goals revealed
During the new Board’s term, they will continue to pursue the objectives of developing the information systems and security sector through continuing to provide a professional forum for networking and collaboration, providing knowledge sharing and educational opportunities for all stages of the information security practitioner’s career, and becoming a highly-regarded voice of information security.

It was noted that through the chapter’s expertise, the organisation has created positive influences on the Barbadian public’s opinion, government legislation, education curriculum as well as the implementation of technological solutions on the island.

The ISSA Barbados Chapter founded in 2010 is a member of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA), an international non-for-profit association of information security professionals which is headquartered in the USA. One of the goals of the chapter is to bring awareness to the public on information security related issues, such as phishing and other aspects of cybercrime. The chapter is also involved in working with reputable organisations to promote safe cyber security practices in our nation, as well as bringing a wealth of cyber security knowledge and experience to its members.
